Gynecomastia surgery is a procedure that helps improve the condition where a man’s chest protrudes like a woman’s, providing both physical and psychological satisfaction and stability.

However, during the recovery process after gynecomastia surgery, individual variables may arise, making proper post-operative care crucial.

The aftereffects that may occur after gynecomastia surgery are influenced by various factors, such as the extent of the gynecomastia symptoms, the surgical method used, the patient’s body type, and post-surgery lifestyle and care habits.

Therefore, it is extremely important to follow the guidance of the medical team during the initial recovery stage, including attending follow-up visits and receiving appropriate care.

The gynecomastia surgery patient I will explain today has been overweight since their teenage years and became aware of the protrusion in both of their breasts, experiencing gynecomastia symptoms during this time.

Even after becoming an adult, they continued to experience not only physical discomfort due to their large chest size but also psychological distress. They made efforts to improve this by consistently exercising.

Despite losing over 30 kg, there was no change in the protrusion or shape of the chest, which continued to cause ongoing stress.

Ultimately, they decided to undergo gynecomastia surgery and visited our clinic

The patient’s gynecomastia symptoms were visually noticeable, with a large and protruding chest.

An ultrasound was performed to identify the cause of the breast size development, and it revealed excessive growth of the mammary gland tissue, which was the direct cause.

After a comprehensive evaluation, the patient was diagnosed with true gynecomastia, corresponding to Simon Grade 2A. Additionally, there was a significant amount of fat in the side chest area, so liposuction would be necessary during the surgery.

Therefore, the plan was to remove the mammary tissue, which was the direct cause of the chest size development, and perform liposuction on the side chest to remove the accumulated fat.

Furthermore, to prevent the chest from becoming sunken after reducing the volume, tissue rearrangement was planned to reshape the chest into a more masculine form.

For the patient, we advised continuous follow-up to monitor the surgical area and check for any complications. We also emphasized the importance of wearing compression garments after surgery to help with shaping the chest and preventing hematoma.

Now, let’s compare the before and two months post-surgery medical photos.

Comparing the photos taken two months after the gynecomastia surgery, although there is still some residual swelling, the volume of the chest has decreased, and the fat along the side chest line has been removed, resulting in a more masculine chest sha[pe.

In the pre- and post-surgery photos with a white cotton t-shirt, a clear difference can be observed. The volume of the chest, which was previously bulging due to gynecomastia, has reduced, and the chest has taken on a more athletic, masculine shape.

When the patient visited on the second day after the gynecomastia surgery, a hemorrhagic hematoma was observed. Necessary treatment and further care were provided,

and the patient was advised to wear compression garments to prevent swelling and hematoma. The patient was also reminded to attend follow-up appointments

at specific intervals and to contact the hospital immediately if any discomfort was experienced.

Most gynecomastia patients are going through this surgery for the first time, so they may experience concerns and uncertainties regarding post-surgery symptoms.

Since the recovery process and post-surgery symptoms can vary from person to person, if patients follow the medical team’s guidance and understand their individual condition, achieving stable and satisfactory results will not be difficult.
