In this post,
we would like to share a case involving
arm liposuction surgery.
The patient visited our clinic
to improve the appearance of
fullness protruding from
the back and outer sides of the upper arms,
which made the arms appear
rounder and larger than desired.
Rather than achieving
an excessively thin appearance,
the patient wanted
a naturally refined arm contour
that would complement
overall body proportions.
In particular,
the goal was to smooth out
the areas that became noticeable
along the back and outer sides of the arms
when the arms were resting naturally
at the sides of the body.
Recently, more patients
have been choosing
arm liposuction
not only to reduce arm circumference,
but also to improve
the contours that become prominent
depending on arm position and movement,
just like this patient.

and overall arm line changed
after arm liposuction.

The patient presented with
fullness along the back and outer portions
of the upper arms,
causing the arms to appear
rounder and thicker than desired.
As a result,
the overall width of the torso
also appeared broader,
making the upper body look
heavier than the patient’s actual frame.
Because the patient had
relatively poor skin elasticity,
excessive fat removal
could increase the risk of
skin laxity, wrinkling,
or an uneven contour after surgery.
For this reason,
the treatment plan required
careful adjustment of both
the liposuction depth
and the treatment areas
to maintain a smooth
and natural arm line.
Fortunately,
the patient’s underlying
arm bone structure
was naturally slim and well-proportioned.
This meant that
simply reducing unnecessary volume
could produce a significant improvement
in the overall arm contour
without the need for aggressive fat removal.
In addition,
the patient had relatively prominent
elbow contours,
making it especially important
to avoid creating excess volume
around the elbow area.
Therefore,
the surgical plan focused on
achieving a balanced arm silhouette,
ensuring that the contour flowed smoothly
from the shoulder to the forearm
while preserving natural proportions.
These comparison photos show
the patient’s appearance
before arm liposuction
and approximately 1.5 months after surgery.
As the fullness that previously projected
from the back and outer sides of the arms
was reduced,
the overall arm contour
became noticeably cleaner
and more refined.
The patient’s desired
natural right-angle arm contour
can also be clearly appreciated.
In addition,
the arms had previously appeared
rounder and thicker
than the patient’s actual frame,
which made the upper body
look broader than it truly was.
Following surgery,
this disproportionate appearance
was improved,
creating a slimmer and more balanced silhouette
that better complements
the patient’s natural body proportions.
From the side view,
the prominent back arm bulge
that previously projected outward
has been noticeably reduced,
resulting in a slimmer upper arm
and a more defined straight arm contour.
Another significant change
can be seen in the overall body silhouette.
Before surgery,
the thickness of the upper arms
reduced the visible area of the torso
from the side profile,
making the upper body appear
heavier and more confined.
After arm liposuction,
the reduction in arm volume
allowed more of the natural torso contour
to become visible,
creating a lighter and more open appearance.
As a result,
the previous sense of heaviness
and visual bulk was improved,
and the arm line now blends naturally
with the patient’s overall physique,
creating a more balanced
and harmonious body proportion.
When the patient raised her arms,
the inner arm fullness previously sagged downward,
creating a heavy and bulky appearance.
Because this area became more noticeable
during larger arm movements,
it was a source of discomfort
and self-consciousness for the patient.
After arm liposuction,
a cleaner arm contour
and visibly slimmer arm circumference
can be seen even when the arms are raised.
The entire arm now appears
lighter, smoother,
and more naturally elongated,
which resulted in a high level of satisfaction
for the patient.
As mentioned earlier,
this patient also demonstrated
reduced skin elasticity.
For that reason,
the surgical plan focused not on creating
an excessively thin appearance,
but rather on achieving
a smooth, natural-looking contour
that would remain harmonious
with the patient’s body proportions.
The final results of arm liposuction
are generally evaluated
after approximately 6 months,
when swelling has largely resolved
and the contour has stabilized.
In the 6-month post-operative photos
provided by the patient,
the degree of change
can be clearly appreciated.
The previously rounded arm shape
and outward-projecting contour
have been refined,
creating the appearance of
right-angle shoulders
and a naturally straight arm line.
In addition to producing
a lighter upper body silhouette,
the transformation of the arms
into a straighter contour
also creates the visual effect
of longer arm proportions.
Particularly in photos
wearing sleeveless clothing,
the arm line can be seen
flowing naturally from the upper body,
demonstrating a result
very close to the straight arm contour
the patient originally desired.
This case highlights that
arm liposuction is not simply
a procedure for removing
large amounts of fat.
Instead,
successful results require
careful consideration of
the patient’s bone structure,
skin elasticity,
and the specific areas
where fat accumulation is most noticeable,
allowing the contour to be refined
