As June arrives,
an increasing number of patients
are visiting our clinic with concerns about
their arm contours—concerns that were
easily concealed beneath long sleeves
or outerwear just a few weeks ago.

With warmer weather approaching,
many people find themselves
wearing short sleeves or sleeveless clothing
more frequently,
making these concerns harder to ignore.

Even among individuals
who are not significantly overweight,
prominent upper arm fullness
can make the upper body appear larger
than it actually is,
and may negatively affect body proportions
in photographs and videos.

In particular,
posterior arm fullness extending along
the back of the upper arm,
as well as blunted transitions around
the axillary region and accessory breast area,
can interfere with the appearance of
a naturally straight arm contour
when the arms are resting at the sides.

As a result,
the upper body may appear broader
and heavier than the patient’s
actual physique.

In this post,
we would like to introduce
a patient who underwent
arm liposuction combined with accessory breast and scapular liposuction
to improve fullness along
the posterior upper arms
and create a lighter,
more refined upper body silhouette.

Rather than achieving
excessively thin arms,
the patient hoped to obtain
a naturally streamlined,
straighter arm contour
that would harmonize with
her existing body proportions.

Let’s take a closer look at
the characteristics of the patient’s
pre-operative arm contour,
the surgical plan,
and the post-operative results
through the following photographs.

Although the patient had
an overall relatively slim physique,
localized fullness along
the posterior and lateral upper arms
caused the upper arms to appear
disproportionately thick
compared with the rest of the body.

In particular,
when the arms rested naturally
at the sides of the body,
the fullness along the back of the upper arms
extended outward from the torso,
creating an appearance that was
rounder and bulkier,
rather than a smooth, straight arm contour.

Because the patient’s overall frame
was not large,
this excess thickness became
even more noticeable.

In addition,
well-developed deltoid muscles
further contributed to an appearance
of broader shoulders
and a heavier upper arm contour.

If these anatomical characteristics
are not carefully considered
during arm liposuction,
the underlying muscle contours
may become overly visible,
resulting in unnatural irregularities
or even contour depressions.

For this reason,
precise adjustment of both
the treatment area and depth of liposuction
was particularly important in this case.

It was also determined that
the transition from the anterior arm
to the torso, including the
accessory breast area,
as well as the region extending from
the posterior upper arm
toward the scapular area,
would benefit from additional refinement
to achieve a smoother overall silhouette.

Accordingly,
a surgical plan combining
arm liposuction,
accessory breast liposuction,
and scapular liposuction
was recommended to create
a lighter, more harmonious,
and naturally streamlined upper body contour.

These photographs compare
the patient’s appearance
before arm liposuction
and approximately 3 months after surgery.

The rounded fullness that previously projected
along the posterior and lateral upper arms
has been refined,
creating a smoother,
cleaner,
and more streamlined arm contour.

The appearance of the torso
being widened laterally
by upper arm fullness
has also improved,
resulting in a more balanced
upper body silhouette.

This change is particularly noticeable
from the back view,
where the disproportionate thickness
of the shoulders and upper arms
previously made the patient appear
larger and less harmonious
despite having a relatively slim physique.

By combining arm liposuction
with scapular liposuction,
the patient was also able to achieve
the softer, more delicate appearance
she had hoped for.

As discussed earlier,
careful consideration of the patient’s
prominent deltoid contour
was especially important
during surgical planning.

When performing arm liposuction,
aggressively removing fat
between muscle groups
simply to maximize volume reduction
can make the muscles appear
more prominent,
resulting in an unnatural contour
or excessive definition.

For this reason,
the surgical approach focused on
preserving volume where necessary
while selectively refining
the rounded fullness along
the posterior and lateral upper arms.

As a result,
the entire arm contour
became smoother and more balanced,
without creating visible irregularities,
while also giving the arms
a noticeably longer
and more elegant appearance.

From the side profile,
a noticeable reduction in
arm circumference can be observed
following arm liposuction,
primarily due to refinement of
the posterior arm fullness.

Before surgery,
the silhouette extending along
the back and outer portions of the upper arms
appeared disproportionately rounded
compared with the patient’s overall physique,
giving the lateral upper body contour
a somewhat heavy and crowded appearance.

Following surgery,
the fullness that previously projected
posteriorly has been effectively reduced,
creating a straighter transition
from just below the shoulder
to the area above the elbow.

As a result,
a greater portion of the torso
has become visible from the side view,
contributing to improved body proportions
and a more balanced,
streamlined upper body silhouette.

These are everyday photographs
taken throughout the recovery period
following arm liposuction surgery,
which demonstrate the natural evolution
of the arm contour over time.

Before surgery,
the rounded fullness extending
along the posterior and lateral upper arms
made the patient’s upper body
appear larger and heavier
than her actual physique.

However,
in photographs taken at approximately
1.5 months post-operatively,
the arms already appear
noticeably slimmer and longer,
reflecting an early improvement
in overall contour.

By 3 months after surgery,
the arms demonstrate a more refined appearance,
without any areas of residual prominence,
creating the impression of
square shoulders and a straighter arm line.

Even when wearing
sleeveless tops or short-sleeved clothing,
the arms now appear
lighter, softer,
and more delicately proportioned,
while maintaining a natural transition
with the rest of the upper body.

It is important to understand that
the final result of liposuction surgery
is not determined immediately after surgery.

Instead,
patients typically experience
a gradual improvement process
as swelling subsides,
tissue firmness softens,
and the contours continue
to settle and refine over time.

For individuals preparing for
a special occasion
or hoping to achieve visible changes
by a specific date,
seeking consultation sooner rather than later
can be beneficial.

A thorough discussion regarding
the most appropriate surgical approach,
expected recovery timeline,
and post-operative management
can help patients make a more informed decision
and plan treatment with greater confidence.
