If you are considering abdominoplasty surgery,
one of the biggest concerns is often
the surgical scar.

Abdominoplasty is a combined procedure
that lifts sagging skin
while simultaneously correcting
the rectus muscles.

During this process,
a relatively long incision
is required along the lower abdomen,
and the recovery period
is not necessarily short.

In particular, the appearance of the scar
and the speed of healing
can vary depending on
each patient’s skin characteristics
and tissue response.

To help the scar stabilize
in the best possible condition,
regular follow-up visits,
postoperative treatments,
and proper aftercare are essential.

Clear communication, understanding,
and feedback between the medical team
and the patient
also play an important role
in achieving optimal recovery.

Even with similar body specifications,
surgical results may vary by individual.

After delivering two children
via Cesarean section,
the patient experienced
decreased abdominal skin elasticity
and progressive lower abdominal sagging,
which had been a long-term concern.

Although her weight remained stable
after childbirth,
the thin, stretched skin
formed visible folds
when sitting or bending forward.

She also reported that
the loosened elasticity
did not improve with exercise,
causing ongoing stress.

As this abdominal contour
became noticeable even through clothing
and affected daily comfort,
she ultimately decided to proceed with
abdominoplasty surgery.

To address the patient’s concerns
and correct her overall body contour,
we carefully evaluated the
necessary surgical procedures.

The patient showed
rectus diastasis,
with separation of the abdominal muscles,
and relaxation extending
to the external oblique muscles,
causing the abdomen
to protrude forward.

As a result,
the waistline appeared wider,
and the transition
from the upper to lower abdomen
lacked a firm, toned contour.

From the front view,
the umbilicus was slightly deviated to the right,
and positioned lower than normal
due to skin laxity,
requiring correction
during abdominoplasty.

Surgical plan

1. Abdominoplasty (M-type, with umbilical correction)
– Performed M-type abdominoplasty
to improve skin sagging and folds
caused by two prior C-sections
– Previous C-section scars removed
– Laterally deviated umbilicus repositioned
closer to the midline
– Position adjusted carefully
to prioritize stable blood supply

2. Rectus muscle repair (Triple-lock technique)
– Corrected stretched rectus muscles
and bilateral external obliques
– Reinforced the abdominal wall
to reduce abdominal protrusion

3. Adhesiolysis
– Released residual adhesions
around the C-section scar
– Smoothed the abdominal surface
for a more even contour

4. Abdominal liposuction + hip dip fat transfer
– Removed excess fat
from the flanks and waist
to refine the waistline
– Performed hip dip fat transfer
to create a smoother transition
from waist to pelvis
and improve overall balance

Below are the before-and-after photos
taken 4 months after abdominoplasty.

[Procedures performed]
Abdominoplasty (M-type), umbilical correction
Rectus muscle repair (Triple-lock technique)
Abdominal liposuction
Hip dip fat transfer

At baseline,
rectus diastasis caused
the anterior abdomen
to protrude slightly forward.

The umbilicus was deviated to the right
and positioned slightly lower than center.
Due to thin, lax skin,
vertical folds overlapped
when sitting or bending forward,
requiring structural correction.

Using the Triple-lock technique,
both the central and lateral rectus muscles
were tightened together,
restoring strong abdominal wall support.
Sagging lower abdominal skin
and wrinkles were simultaneously refined.

As a result,
the abdominal surface became
flat and lifted,
transforming into a firmer,
more contoured shape without sagging.

With liposuction and
triple-lock abdominal wall tightening,
the waistline definition
also became noticeably sharper and clearer.

In a bending posture,
the difference becomes
even more noticeable.

Before surgery,
the thin, lax lower abdominal skin
folded unevenly at the surface
and sagged forward.

However, after abdominoplasty,
the excess skin causing sagging
was removed,
and rectus muscle repair
restored firm abdominal wall support.

As a result,
even when bending forward,
the abdomen remains tight
and well supported
without drooping.

Below the umbilicus,
there is no downward skin collapse,
showing a naturally smooth
and stable contour.

From the side view,
the previously protruding abdominal wall
and sagging skin overlapping
above the underwear line
were clearly corrected.

Elasticity now extends smoothly
from the upper abdomen
to the lower abdomen.

Because the stretched rectus muscles
were firmly repaired,
there is no forward bulging,
and the entire anterior abdomen
remains flat and smooth.

Through abdominoplasty,
excess sagging skin was removed,
and the rectus muscles
were tightened like a corset,
creating a firmer waist and abdominal contour.

Wrinkles and overlapping folds
that were concentrated
in the lower abdomen disappeared,
allowing the skin to stretch naturally
even when bending or moving.

With a smoother, refined abdomen,
the patient shared that
she was finally relieved
from long-standing stress.

At 4 months post-op,
the scar continues to improve steadily
and remains hidden under underwear,
causing minimal concern.

With consistent scar care,
including silicone band application,
moisturizing, laser aftercare,
and regular follow-up checks,
further refinement of the abdominal line
is expected.
