After pregnancy and childbirth, a woman’s body
often recovers slowly, and in some cases
may show limits to full recovery.

The abdomen, which undergoes the biggest change,
can be difficult to restore perfectly, even with
exercise and diet control. Issues like
abdominal skin laxity and rectus diastasis
are often hard to correct naturally.

As a result, sagging from the upper abdomen,
changes in abdominal contour, belly button
deformation
, and lower belly overlap can occur,
leading not only to appearance concerns but also
daily discomfort and ongoing stress.

When viewing the entire abdomen, the firm feel
may be lost, fat may spread sideways, the
waistline becomes indistinct, and the weight
center
sits lower, making overall body balance
appear disrupted.

In this post, we will closely review the before-and-after
photos
of a patient who had long-standing concerns
after pregnancy and childbirth, to see the degree
of change achieved with abdominoplasty.

This patient, a woman in her late 40s,
had previously delivered two children
via cesarean section.

After childbirth, she experienced
some weight gain, and despite
consistent dieting, she found that
abdominal skin sagging and
rectus diastasis did not improve,
causing ongoing concern.

Specifically, she reported upper abdominal skin sagging
above the navel, love handles, lower abdominal skin folds,
and a lack of volume in the hip dip area,
which collectively disrupted her overall body balance.

This was especially discouraging when wearing
thin or tight-fitting clothing,
leading to a loss of confidence
and feelings of self-consciousness.

To address these combined upper body concerns,
she decided to undergo abdominoplasty
along with rectus muscle plication,
abdominal liposuction,
and hip dip fat grafting.

When checking the patient’s condition before
the abdominoplasty, it was clear there was
severe lower abdominal skin sagging.

In addition, subcutaneous fat caused the belly
to fold deeply inward, and lifting the sagging skin
revealed the fat hidden within the fold.

From the front and both side views, the entire
abdomen appeared heavy and wide.

Furthermore, rectus diastasis and skin sagging
above the navel extended to the flanks and
hip line, making the torso appear thick and
blurred, creating imbalance between upper
and lower abdomen.

To correct these concerns, the patient was
advised on the following surgical plan:

1.L-Type Abdominoplasty – Remove sagging skin
extensively from upper to lower abdomen.

2.Rectus Muscle Plication – Gather and firmly suture
separated abdominal muscles due to pregnancy.

3.Umbilical Reconstruction – Reshape the navel
to an ideal vertical position.

4.Abdominal Liposuction – Remove fat from abdomen,
flanks, and love handles for a slimmer waist.

5.Hip Dip Fat Transfer – Fill depressed hip dips
for a feminine waist-to-hip curve.

Based on this plan, the surgery was designed
to improve abdominal appearance and restore
core stability and body balance.

Below, we will compare the before-and-after
results of L-type abdominoplasty,
rectus muscle plication, umbilical reconstruction,
abdominal liposuction, and hip dip fat transfer
to assess the degree of transformation.

Before abdominoplasty and liposuction,
the lower abdominal skin was severely stretched,
creating thick skin folds that gave
a heavy appearance.
The navel’s shape and position were also distorted,
disrupting overall balance.

After abdominoplasty and liposuction,
the loose skin was tightened, and excess fat
that was disrupting the line was removed,
resulting in a lighter volume and
a clear lifting effect.

Additionally, the navel was naturally repositioned
to its original stalk location and reshaped
into a vertical form, further enhancing
the slim waistline’s visual impact.

When comparing photos taken
from a diagonal angle, the correction
of rectus diastasis is clearly visible.

Before abdominoplasty, the heavy front abdominal area,
where fat was concentrated, caused excessive sagging.
Due to rectus diastasis, the abdominal wall
also protruded outward from the center to both sides.

After abdominoplasty and rectus muscle plication,
the previously bulging and sagging abdominal shape
was neatly corrected, restoring a flatter, firmer contour.

Next, we will compare before-and-after results
of abdominoplasty combined with
rectus muscle plication in a forward-bent posture.

Before surgery, the abdomen spilled downward,
causing skin folding and rolling, which was very noticeable.
This condition likely caused discomfort
due to skin friction in the folded areas
when wearing clothes or moving.

The upper abdomen also sagged forward
under the influence of gravity,
a result of rectus diastasis.

After abdominoplasty and rectus muscle plication,
the sagging skin was lifted, and the previously bulging
upper abdomen was tightened.
Even when bending forward, the abdomen
no longer drooped or sagged,
showing a completely refined contour.

From the side view before abdominoplasty,
the lower abdomen was deeply folded,
giving a heavy appearance.

After abdominal contouring surgery,
this heaviness was reduced, sagging disappeared,
and the waistline became more defined.

The incision for abdominoplasty is placed
low on the lower abdomen,
making it easy to hide under underwear
and invisible in everyday clothing.
The patient felt highly satisfied
with both the overall improvement
and the discreet scar placement.

Currently, the patient continues scar care
and recovery using scar ointment
and silicone sheets.
During follow-up visits,
we also provide laser toning
to ensure long-term and stable scar reduction.

However, the healing speed and scar response
after abdominoplasty vary from person to person,
making regular follow-ups and
personalized medical care essential.

For anyone considering abdominoplasty,
it is important to have an accurate diagnosis,
a precise surgical plan,
and consistent recovery management
with guidance from your surgeon.
