Liposuction has become one of the most satisfying procedures
for those who have struggled to lose weight
through intense diet and exercise.
As its popularity continues to rise,
so does public interest in post-surgery effects
and potential side effects.

As more people look into liposuction,
it becomes even more important to understand
that the safest and most effective results
come from working with a highly experienced surgeon
and undergoing a thorough consultation
before proceeding with the procedure.

Liposuction involves using a cannula
to remove fat through a back-and-forth motion
beneath the skin.
This process inevitably irritates
skin tissue and lymphatic vessels,
leading to bruising, swelling, and a condition known as Bio-Bond.

Although fat debris and fluid are ideally flushed out
through the lymphatic system,
this function is often compromised
due to trauma from the procedure,
which results in temporary swelling and firmness
as waste accumulates.

Patients should understand that such Bio-Bond symptoms
are normal post-operative responses,
not complications.

The Bio-Bond hardening sensation
gradually softens and diminishes with time,
typically disappearing along with swelling.

Initially, the area may feel firm and lumpy,
but as healing progresses, it becomes softer and smaller,
eventually disappearing on its own.

However, if this firmness persists
more than a year after surgery,
we recommend visiting the original clinic
to seek professional evaluation and advice.

The patient is 156cm tall, weighs 49kg,
with a BMI of 20.5.
She had long been concerned about her thighs,
where stubborn fat was concentrated.

To reduce thigh volume,
she had previously undergone multiple sessions of fat-dissolving injections,
but saw little to no reduction in thigh circumference.

As a result, she decided to proceed with lower body liposuction
to more effectively eliminate localized fat
and achieve a thigh gap with a straighter leg line.

Based on the body consultation,
the patient had excess fat accumulation
in both the thighs and buttocks.

Rather than focusing solely on the thighs,
we recommended comprehensive lower body liposuction,
including the hip line,
to create a more balanced upper and lower body silhouette.

If liposuction is performed only on the thighs,
the structural support under the buttocks may weaken,
which can lead to sagging
and the appearance of an under-butt fold.

This can negatively affect the proportions of the lower body
and result in an unbalanced rear view.

Therefore, we advised that hip line liposuction
should be performed together with the thighs
to improve both buttock contour and lower body balance.

The patient had a history of fat-dissolving injections
before visiting our clinic.
When a patient has had multiple injections or prior procedures,
the fat texture and tissue adhesion may change,
which can increase the complexity of surgery,
sometimes qualifying it as a revision case.

After thorough consultation,
the patient agreed with the surgical plan
to achieve a more balanced lower body,
and proceeded with thigh + hip line liposuction.
A total of 4,100cc of fat was removed.

Many patients often feel anxious
about possible side effects
after undergoing liposuction.

Around two weeks post-op,
swelling, bruising, and Bio-Bond symptoms
tend to peak,
which can cause concern—
especially if the body appears uneven or lumpy.

In this case, the patient became worried
as swelling and bruising appeared
and gradually moved downward due to gravity,
mistaking it for a surgical complication.

However, as seen in follow-up photos,
these concerns subsided over time,
and both the swelling and bruising
visibly improved.

In particular, the inner thighs
which were the patient’s biggest concern—
are areas where Bio-Bond resolves more slowly.
The inner knees also take longer to stabilize,
as swelling tends to accumulate there last.

We thoroughly explained that a tingling sensation
in the treated area is also a normal part of the healing process,
and helped the patient feel at ease
by walking through what to expect
as the body continues to recover.

Bruising, swelling, and Bio-Bond
are all normal post-operative reactions
that naturally occur after liposuction.

Although swelling and Bio-Bond can be managed
through the clinic’s aftercare program,
they can also be improved at home
with consistent self-care,
which may help shorten recovery time.

Warm compresses, light walking,
and gentle massage
can help loosen any tight areas
and support the healing process.

It’s important to understand that
bruising, swelling, and Bio-Bond
are not complications,
but part of the body’s natural healing response,
and will gradually improve with time.

Rather than feeling anxious,
patients are encouraged to stay committed
to at-home care routines
to help their body settle into
the desired contour and final result.
