The reason legs appear short is
not solely due to height.

In many cases, excess thigh fat
creates an unbalanced body ratio.

Especially when saddlebags or
inner thigh fat accumulate,
the outer thigh starting point
appears lower, and the thighs
touch on the inside, making
the leg’s starting position unclear.

This makes legs look shorter
than they really are.

This issue becomes more noticeable
in fitted clothing like leggings,
where uneven contours are visible,
causing stress.

Even if the bone structure
is proportionate, thigh fat
can distort the upper–lower body ratio,
making the body look less balanced.

The patient in this case
experienced a similar concern.
Although she lost weight
through dieting, her thigh fat
and saddlebags remained,
affecting her leg shape
and creating body proportion imbalance.

[Patient information]

Age: early 20s

Occupation: university student

Height: 159cm

Weight: 52kg

BMI: 21

Even with similar body measurements,
results from liposuction surgery may vary.

She reported that her legs looked
particularly bulky, which was
a constant source of stress.

In particular, saddlebags made
her legs look shorter, with weight
visually concentrated on the lower body.

From the front view, inner thigh fat
closed the gap between her legs,
adding to her complex.

Although she consistently exercised
and dieted, there was almost no change.

Therefore, she visited Lesarts Plastic Surgery
to reshape her legs through
thigh liposuction, which offers
a direct fat reduction effect.

Through the consultation, we confirmed
the fat distribution and leg shape,
and as the patient mentioned, she had a
typical lower body obesity type,
with more volume in the lower body
compared to the upper body.

There was significant fat in both the
inner thighs and outer thighs,
and in particular, the saddlebags extended
to the lower buttock line, creating a heavy look
and making the legs appear shorter.

The inner thigh fat also caused
both thighs to touch, blurring the
starting point of the legs and disrupting
overall body proportion.

To correct these issues, we planned
thigh liposuction focused on the
inner thighs and saddlebags,
extending to the lower buttock line
to create smooth contours without irregularities.

Rather than only reducing thigh volume,
it was important to raise the leg starting point
to improve upper-to-lower body ratio
through a precise surgical design.

Below, we will review photos taken
1 month after thigh liposuction
to see the transformation.

Before thigh liposuction, the inner thigh fat
created a heavy, tight leg silhouette
with no visible thigh gap.

To correct this, we performed
inner thigh liposuction, and after
1 month, a thigh gap appeared, improving
the short and bulky leg shape.

The outer thigh saddlebags were also smoothed,
removing uneven bulges and creating a
softer overall contour.

From the front, the thigh width became narrower,
and the area that previously protruded
below the hips was reduced, raising
the leg starting point.

This not only improved the upper-to-lower
body ratio
but also resulted in a
slimmer leg line.

Before surgery, the low leg starting point
and excess fat made the legs look heavy
and drew attention to the problem area.

After surgery, with both inner and outer thigh fat
evenly removed, the legs appear lighter
and longer.

Even in the selfie photos taken after thigh liposuction,
the changes in leg shape and proportion improvement
are clearly noticeable.

In the 2-week post-op photos — a period when
swelling is still significant — the effect of
outer thigh saddlebags liposuction is visible,
showing increased leg length visually.

By the 60th day, about 2 months after surgery,
the transformation becomes even more apparent.
The reduction of inner thigh swelling has
created a wider thigh gap, and the shift to
a straight-leg shape resolved the patient’s
complex, allowing them to achieve the slim legs
they desired.

This was a result that diet and thigh exercises
alone could not achieve, requiring targeted fat
removal from specific areas of the thighs
to enhance the lines.

Importantly, instead of indiscriminately
removing fat from the entire thigh just to reduce size,
the surgery focused on key points
such as saddlebags and inner thigh fat —
where disproportionate volume had accumulated.
By optimizing the amount of fat removed in these
areas, we achieved balanced proportions
and high patient satisfaction.
