Many people experience body contour issues
that are unrelated to weight.

As readers of our blog may already know,
conditions like rectus diastasis and
abdominal skin laxity caused by
pregnancy, childbirth, or weight changes
are often difficult to manage with diet alone.

For this reason, more patients are seeking
professional medical help to correct these issues.

Today, we will explain the method and results of
mini abdominoplasty performed at Lesarts,
through the case of a woman in her 40s
who visited our clinic to correct
lower abdominal sagging.

This patient, a woman in her early 40s,
had experienced two natural deliveries.

She had maintained excellent control
over her weight and body shape,
but despite this, she presented with
sagging lower abdominal skin
and rectus diastasis,
which caused visible drooping
and protrusion of the lower abdomen.

Because of this condition,
her waistline looked as if a tube
was wrapped around it,
and her lower belly bulge projected
through clothing, causing persistent
discomfort and stress in daily life.

Since this issue was not related
to fat accumulation,
it could not be corrected
with liposuction alone.
To address both muscle separation
and skin laxity, she decided to undergo
abdominoplasty surgery.

For her specific case of lower abdominal sagging,
she chose S-type (short-type) abdominoplasty
combined with rectus muscle plication
and abdominal liposuction
to refine the waistline.

During the consultation, we confirmed
that the patient had significant skin sagging
in the lower abdomen.

Excess subcutaneous fat had accumulated
in this area, creating folded layers of skin.
Not only when standing but also when bending forward,
the sagging skin stretched downward due to gravity,
making the entire abdomen appear heavy
and disproportionately protruded.

From both the front and side views,
the lower belly projected downward,
while the upper abdomen had a thin fat layer,
making the ribs more prominent.
This contrast emphasized the volume imbalance
between the upper and lower abdomen.

Additionally, the waistline appeared widened
due to continuous fat distribution
from the flanks to the hip dips,
causing the body to look unbalanced overall.

To address these concerns,
the following surgical plan was established:

1.Mini Abdominoplasty (S-type)
Targeted for lower abdominal sagging,
the short-type tummy tuck was planned
to lift and tighten the drooping skin.

2.Rectus Muscle Plication
The muscles separated below the navel
would be sutured inward to restore
abdominal wall support
and correct the protrusion.

3.Abdominal Liposuction
Performed to refine the waist, flanks,
and hip areas, removing excess bulges
for a smoother contour.

4.Thigh Liposuction
To enhance body proportion,
liposuction of the inner thighs
and chanel line was also planned,
bringing balance between the upper
and lower body.

This surgical plan focused not only on
abdominal wall correction and skin lifting,
but also on restoring overall body proportion
and harmony.

Below, we present the 3-month comparison photos
after abdominoplasty, rectus plication,
and liposuction, showing the degree
of transformation achieved.

When reviewing the before-and-after photos
of mini abdominoplasty, the preoperative abdomen
showed noticeable skin sagging and lower belly bulging.

The waistline also appeared almost straight,
spreading outward toward the flanks,
which blurred the upper-to-lower body ratio.

After surgery, the sagging skin was lifted,
and the overlapping fold of the lower abdomen,
which had extended down to the underwear line,
was neatly corrected.

With rectus muscle plication,
the abdominal center was tightened firmly,
and the entire abdomen settled into
a flatter and more balanced contour.

From the oblique view,
the preoperative mini abdominoplasty photos
showed a strong lower belly bulge,
with the abdomen projecting prominently forward.

After rectus muscle plication,
the abdominal wall was firmly corrected,
and the abdominal curve was reshaped
into a smoother, more refined line.

Because liposuction was performed together,
the flank contour was also refined,
resulting in a sharper and more elegant
flow along the waistline.

When reviewing the forward-bending photos,
the preoperative mini abdominoplasty showed
abdominal skin and fat drooping downward
with gravity, forming deep overlapping folds.

As indicated by the yellow arrow,
the sagging lower abdominal skin
was clearly hanging down,
with the central abdomen collapsed.

After mini abdominoplasty and
rectus muscle plication,
the abdominal center tightened firmly,
and the lifted skin maintained firmness.
As shown by the red arrow,
the line transformed into a smooth
and refined contour.

Even when bending forward,
the abdomen remained stable
without sagging, which is one of the
most striking effects of this surgery.

When reviewing the side view before abdominoplasty,
the lower abdomen protruded outward due to
rectus diastasis and skin laxity.

Even with a slim body type,
the presence of deep folds created
a heavier and less refined image.

After mini abdominoplasty with
rectus muscle plication,
the lifted skin and corrected abdominal wall
reshaped the lower abdomen into
a firm and stable center.
The waistline also connected smoothly,
enhancing natural body proportions.

This surgery was performed using the S-type (short-type) abdominoplasty,
appropriate for patients with sagging concentrated
below the navel.

Some patients request short-type incisions
despite having upper abdominal sagging,
in hopes of reducing scar length.
However, incision length directly impacts
the lifting range and correction results.
Choosing an incision that is too short
may result in issues such as
wrinkled skin or dog-ear deformities.

It is essential to base the surgical plan
on accurate diagnosis rather than preference.
Only by doing so can patients achieve
safe surgery and highly satisfying results.

In this case, thanks to precise diagnosis
and a tailored surgical plan,
the patient has followed recovery well
up to the 3-month stage.
As a result, the incision scar has already
begun to stabilize and fade,
with visible improvement in appearance.
