For many men, gynecomastia — the enlargement and protrusion of the chest —
is more than just a cosmetic concern.

A larger, protruding chest can make even everyday life uncomfortable.
Simple outings may feel stressful, and clothing choices often become limited.

When these changes first appear during adolescence,
the stress can be overwhelming.

Even into adulthood, if the chest remains enlarged
despite workouts or diet control,
noticeable improvement is unlikely without treatment.
This is why many men seek medical consultation.

One of the most common frustrations reported
is that under thin T-shirts or lightweight shirts,
the chest protrusion is clearly visible,
leading to unnatural fit and discomfort.

If left unresolved, this issue often leads to psychological withdrawal,
affecting not only daily life at work, school, or in the military,
but also leisure and personal activities.

For men whose gynecomastia cannot be managed with self-care alone,
a specialized consultation and surgical treatment
is often the most effective and lasting solution.

This patient in his mid-30s experienced a situation very similar
to what was described earlier. His chest began enlarging
and protruding during his teenage years, causing ongoing discomfort.

At first, he thought these symptoms of gynecomastia
were only temporary changes from growth.
However, even after becoming an adult, the enlarged chest,
protruding areola, and swollen nipple symptoms
showed no improvement, and his concerns increased over time.

Recently, even a slight weight gain made his chest protrusion
look more noticeable, which added to his stress.

After realizing that workouts and diet management alone
could not resolve the problem,
he decided to undergo gynecomastia surgery.

Based on the diagnosis, we explained
the following gynecomastia surgery plan:

1.Gland Excision
Through a periareolar incision, the overgrown
glandular tissue was removed to fundamentally
resolve the cause of large chest protrusion
and areolar swelling.

2.Liposuction
Liposuction of the lower and lateral chest
was performed in combination, refining
the chest contour that cannot be addressed
by gland removal alone.

3.Adhesion and Depression Prevention
Surgical techniques were applied to prevent
adhesion in the excised space and avoid
indentations of the nipple or areola,
ensuring a smooth and natural chest contour.

Next, we will compare the patient’s
before and 2-month postoperative photos
to observe how the chest shape has changed.

When comparing the before-and-after gynecomastia surgery photos,
the chest protrusion has completely disappeared,
and the overall chest contour has transformed
into a smooth and firm appearance.

In the oblique pre-surgery photos,
a rounded bulge centered around the nipple
was clearly visible,
which must have caused significant stress.

After surgery, this protrusion was fully corrected,
and the chest was reshaped into a flat and natural form,
leading to a high level of satisfaction.

From the side view comparison,
the effect of gynecomastia surgery is even clearer.
Previously, the sharply projected chest
resembled a female breast.
Now, after surgery, it has settled
into the shape of a firm, masculine chest,
with a stable and athletic look.

In the before-and-after photos wearing a white T-shirt,
the chest protrusion that had caused discomfort
has been completely corrected,
transforming into a natural male chest.

Before gynecomastia surgery,
the patient reported that whenever he wore
a thin short-sleeve T-shirt,
not only the large chest but also the swollen
nipples and areolae were fully exposed,
making him feel self-conscious.

At 2 months post-op, the glandular tissue
that caused the enlargement was removed,
and excess fat in the lower and lateral chest
was refined.
The T-shirt now fits naturally and neatly,
while the upper body itself shows
a more confident appearance.

Since this is only the 2-month recovery stage,
residual swelling and tissue healing
are still in progress.
We advised avoiding excessive stimulation
to the surgical site and maintaining
stable weight to achieve the best results.

Gynecomastia surgery removes the glandular tissue
that is the root cause of the enlargement.
Once the recovery period passes,
incorporating light upper body exercises
can further enhance the masculine chest line.

However, recovery speed varies by individual.
Therefore, the timing to resume exercise
should always be decided
after consulting the surgeon
during follow-up visits.
