It’s surprisingly common for people
not to fully understand the characteristics
of their own body type.

In particular, many patients who visit for liposuction
often refer to both muscle and fat simply as “bulk,”
and tend to request “the slimmest result possible”
through maximum-volume fat removal.

However, during consultation,
we explain the differences between the muscle layer,
fat layer, and skin layer,
and patients come to understand that
the actual outcome of liposuction
may differ from images of celebrities or
edited photos on social media.

This is especially important for the arms,
as they have a wide range of motion
and require precise movement.
When planning arm liposuction,
understanding the bone structure
and degree of muscle development
is essential for accurately predicting the outcome.

The patient we’re introducing today
underwent arm liposuction along with liposuction
on the arm connection area,
which resulted in a longer-looking, smoother arm line
compared to before surgery.

She had a body type with developed deltoid muscles,
and we’ll explain through the before-and-after photos below
how the procedure was designed to address
that anatomical characteristic.

[Patient Information]
Age: Late 20s
Occupation: Office worker
Height: 155cm
Weight: 56kg
BMI: 23

Even with similar body specs,
results of liposuction may vary by individual.

This patient experienced a steady weight gain over 4 years,
and tried to manage it through exercise-based dieting.
However, she found that her bulky upper arms
remained unresponsive,
which ultimately led her to consider liposuction.

Based on the patient’s body shape analysis,
we identified the following characteristics:

1.Her skin elasticity was moderate overall,
and she had a fat-type body shape
with enough fat volume for liposuction,
which suggested a good potential for visible improvement
through arm liposuction.

2.However, she had developed deltoid muscles (shoulder area),
and overly aggressive suction in an attempt
to create a straight arm line
could have emphasized the muscle contours.

Therefore, we proposed the following
arm liposuction surgical plan for this patient:

1.We planned to perform arm liposuction,
along with armpit, accessory breast,
and scapular fat removal,
to slim down the upper body width
and improve the back and shoulder line.

2.Taking into account her prominent deltoid shape,
we chose to leave a small amount of fat
around the border between the shoulder and arm,
in order to create a natural-looking, straight arm line.

3.As the patient had a history of low blood pressure,
we conducted a preoperative compatibility check
to ensure she was in proper health for surgery,
and asked her to pay extra attention
to maintaining her physical condition
until the day of the procedure.

Below is a comparison photo
taken before and one month after arm liposuction.

[Surgery Area & Fat Volume]
Surgery area: arms, armpits, scapula (shoulder blades)
Fat volume removed: 1,500cc

The patient underwent arm liposuction,
along with armpit and scapular fat removal,
excluding the accessory breast area
originally suggested in the consultation.

By targeting the bulky upper arms
that previously made her upper body appear wider,
we were able to create a much more slim and refined arm line.

As shown in the before-and-after photos
taken from the front and back,
the excess fat that protruded from the outer arms
was noticeably reduced,
leading to a clear decrease in upper body width.

This slimming effect contributed to a more delicate silhouette,
making her overall body frame appear smaller and lighter.

In the side view comparison,
you can also see a significant reduction
in the thickness of the arms,
resulting in a clean, straight contour
without heaviness or roundness.

Even in the selfie photo taken on the day of surgery,
you can clearly see that excess fat
in the arms, armpits, and scapula area
was removed in a balanced and refined way,
transforming the patient’s appearance
into a longer-looking, straighter arm line
compared to before surgery.

As mentioned earlier,
this patient had a body type
with developed deltoid muscles,
and also had excess fat in surrounding areas,
which contributed to a visibly bulkier upper body.

If we had focused only on reducing size
without considering muscle structure
or arm movement,
removing too much fat
could have led to a thinner arm
that still failed to form a true straight line.

By closely analyzing these aspects,
we intentionally left a small amount of fat
around the muscle boundaries,
leading to a result where the arm
was reshaped into a smooth, straight silhouette.
