Today, perceptions of liposuction have shifted,
marking a new era of self-enhancement.

Liposuction is no longer seen as a surgery for those who have “failed at self-care,”
but as a quick solution to improve targeted problem areas.

However, due to incorrect approaches by some clinics,
patients still report side effects such as yo-yo effects and skin depressions.

To avoid additional revision surgeries
and ensure a successful secondary liposuction,
it is essential to choose a clinic
that has a strong patient safety system,
highly experienced specialized surgeons,
and a deep understanding of revision procedures.

Moreover,
it is important for patients to stay committed to post-operative care,
as thorough aftercare significantly contributes
to achieving the best possible surgical outcome.

The patient was 171 cm tall,
weighed 72.3 kg,
and had a BMI of 24.7,
struggling with significant upper body fat accumulation.

Eight months ago,
she visited our clinic for a consultation on arm liposuction only,
but two months later,
she underwent arm liposuction surgery at another clinic.

Due to unsatisfactory results and subsequent weight gain,
the patient returned to our clinic,
a specialized liposuction center,
to proceed with upper body liposuction revision.

The pinch test showed that,
although the patient had previously undergone liposuction at another clinic,
a significant amount of residual fat remained.

Thus, the before-and-after results of the upper body liposuction revision
were expected to be very positive.

To maximize the slim and delicate effect,
we recommended liposuction of the arm line,
along with the accessory breast and armpit areas.

Additionally,
we suggested that if the scapular area was treated,
performing liposuction on the hump together would smooth out the back line,
removing the bulging neck fat
and enhancing the overall appearance of a smaller upper body.

Although a large amount of upper body fat was expected for liposuction,
the patient also reported having orthostatic hypotension
and experiencing anemia after previous liposuction surgery at another clinic.

Therefore, before the upper body liposuction revision,
we recommended mandatory iron supplement intake.

Additionally,
the deep scars left at the elbow incision sites
after the previous surgery became another reason
for the patient’s decision to undergo revision surgery.

Before proceeding,
we explained the possibility of performing liposuction revision
through the previous elbow incisions
and included the accessory breast, armpit,
and scapular areas in the surgical plan.

A total of 3,200cc of fat was successfully removed

In the pre-surgery photos,
the patient’s upper body appeared larger than it actually was
due to the layer of fat accumulation.

However, even in the same-day post-op photos,
you can clearly see that the excess fat was neatly removed,
creating the straight arm shape the patient desired.

As for the incision scars,
we were able to reuse the previous incision sites
made by the other clinic,
minimizing the formation of new scars during surgery.

After surgery,
if scar treatment is needed at the incision site,
it is important to temporarily remove the compression garment
to avoid irritating the wound.

Once the symptoms improve,
the compression garment should be worn again
to help properly shape the surgical lines.

Scars that can occur after liposuction
usually heal over time,
and gradual improvement can be observed.

However,
scar healing varies depending on the individual,
and if scars darken,
full recovery may take up to one year.

To support faster recovery of the surgical area,
it is recommended to apply the scar cream
provided by the clinic.

Depending on the situation,
toning laser treatments
may also help improve pigmentation around the incision.

Although liposuction is chosen to enhance beauty
and correct problem areas,
it is important not to regret a past unsuccessful surgery.

Instead, focusing on proper recovery care,
regular exercise,
and maintaining a balanced diet
will help achieve a more beautiful and lasting result.
