Many people think they can hide their body shape
with thick clothing during the cold winter season.
However, once the coat comes off,
bulky upper arms and love handles revealed
through winter knits can be
a major source of stress for many.
While direct exposure can be avoided,
seasonal clothing can only go so far
in concealing body contour concerns.
As a result, those unhappy with
bulges in the arms, abdomen, or thighs—
and the overall lack of body line—
increasingly turn to procedures like liposuction
to achieve body sculpting effects.
Still, liposuction shouldn’t be viewed
simply as a way to reduce size.
It’s important to plan surgery in a way
that enhances the unique strengths
of each individual’s body type.
The patient featured in today’s
before-and-after liposuction case
was particularly stressed about fat
concentrated in the upper arms,
which made her frame appear larger.

Even with similar body specifications,
liposuction results may vary.
This patient was especially concerned
about localized upper body fat
and decided on arm liposuction
to create slimmer, more delicate arms.
After evaluating the patient’s condition
for arm liposuction surgery,
we found that her skin elasticity
was within an acceptable range.
She also had a sufficient amount of fat
to produce a clearly visible arm shape improvement
through liposuction.
However, her overall body structure
included relatively large muscle mass,
so achieving the soft, delicate look she desired
was expected to be somewhat limited.
To overcome this, we planned to perform
arm liposuction together with
armpit fat removal,
securing additional inner space
to allow the arms to close inward more easily,
and reducing the width of the upper body
as much as possible.
However, since armpit liposuction involves
a risk of damaging the lymph nodes,
we informed the patient in advance
that a family history of breast cancer
should be checked prior to surgery.
In the scapular area,
there was a certain amount of fat accumulation,
but with proper diet management
after surgery, the contour could improve
even without liposuction.
For this reason, we did not strongly recommend it.
Let’s now look at a comparison
of the before and after results
using photos taken 4 months
after the arm liposuction surgery.
Before the surgery,
the upper body appeared wide and bulky
due to arm fat spreading outward.
After arm liposuction and armpit liposuction,
the shape became slimmer,
creating a softer, more delicate image.
In particular, not only the upper arms
but also the fat accumulated in the armpit
caused the outer part of the arm to bulge
when placed naturally beside the torso,
making the body look broader and older.
Through arm liposuction and armpit liposuction,
this issue was resolved,
resulting in a smoother,
more refined body line.
As seen in the selfie photos provided by the patient,
even with a naturally muscular physique,
the arm contour looks clean and refined
thanks to the arm liposuction.
In addition to the effect of arm liposuction,
the armpit liposuction helped create
a straighter arm shape by correcting
the outward flare,
making the entire upper body appear smaller.
As mentioned earlier,
in the case of the scapular area,
with consistent diet management and exercise
after arm liposuction,
we expect further improvement
in both the back view and side contour.
