Abdominoplasty for post-pregnancy abdominal deformity, Lesarts Plastic Surgery

The abdomen is particularly prone
to changes in the skin and internal tissues
due to pregnancy, childbirth,
and prior surgeries or procedures.

Common changes include
loss of skin elasticity leading to sagging,
and internal tissue adhesions
that create an uneven, irregular surface.

As time passes,
these issues are often compounded by aging,
making sagging and contour imbalance
more pronounced and severe.

Because such changes are difficult
to improve through exercise
or weight management alone,
patients seeking correction
often require abdominoplasty
to address the underlying structural problems.

The patient discussed in this case
had a history of abdominal liposuction
and childbirth,
which resulted in persistent central abdominal adhesions
and noticeable sagging.
For these reasons,
she proceeded with abdominoplasty surgery
to restore a smoother, more stable abdominal contour.

Age: Late 40s

Even with similar body specifications,
surgical results may vary by individual.

The patient has a history of three childbirths,
with noticeably reduced abdominal skin elasticity.
She was also concerned about
irregular adhesions caused by
previous abdominal liposuction.

Due to these issues,
the abdomen appeared heavy,
and the uneven surface was
clearly visible to the naked eye.
She wished to improve
this irregular abdominal contour
through abdominoplasty surgery.

Before surgery, the patient’s abdomen
showed irregular adhesions in the central area,
including above the navel,
caused by previous abdominal liposuction.
These adhesions pulled the skin tightly,
creating an uneven surface.

In addition, after her most recent childbirth,
overall abdominal skin elasticity had declined,
with sagging skin extending toward the lower abdomen
and forming visible wrinkles.

Rectus diastasis was also identified,
contributing further to the
irregular and unstable abdominal contour.

To improve the uneven adhesions,
rectus diastasis, and skin laxity,
and to restore overall abdominal balance
and firmness,
the following surgical plan was explained.

Surgical plan

1. Abdominoplasty (M-type, umbilical correction)

-Lifted extensive skin laxity
extending from the upper to lower abdomen.

-Reconstructed the umbilical position
through lifting of stretched skin,
restoring a natural abdominal center.

2. Rectus muscle repair (Triple-lock technique)

-Corrected rectus diastasis
using the triple-lock method,
addressing the central and bilateral areas
to reinforce abdominal wall support.

3. Adhesiolysis

-Carefully released irregular adhesions
formed after previous abdominal liposuction.

-Smoothed the abdominal surface
through meticulous adhesion release.

4. Abdominal liposuction

-Refined fat primarily around the waistline
to create a smoother, more defined contour.

Below are photos taken 5 months after surgery,
following M-type abdominoplasty,
triple-lock rectus repair,
and abdominal liposuction performed together.

Through the actual before-and-after images,
we will closely review the effects of abdominoplasty
and the scar condition at 5 months post-op.

[Procedures performed, Lesarts Plastic Surgery]

Abdominoplasty, umbilical correction, adhesiolysis,
rectus muscle repair, abdominal liposuction

Before abdominoplasty,
severe skin sagging and adhesions
created an uneven abdominal surface.
Through adhesion release, skin lifting,
and abdominal wall repair,
the abdomen became smooth and firm.

Multiple folds above the navel
and the heavy appearance of the lower abdomen
were completely corrected,
revealing a cleaner, more balanced contour.

Sagging and loss of elasticity
that appeared when bending forward
were effectively corrected.
The abdomen now remains firm and smooth,
without pulling or shifting
in the direction of gravity.

Most notably, through abdominoplasty,
excessively stretched skin
from the upper abdomen was removed.
As a result, multiple layers of skin overlap disappeared,
and the overall abdominal elasticity
and skin texture
show marked improvement.

From the side view,
the effects of rectus muscle repair
and skin lifting
are most clearly visible.

An abdomen that previously appeared
uneven and lacking elasticity
due to sagging, adhesions,
and abdominal wall protrusion

became stable after abdominoplasty.
The abdominal wall is firmly supported,
and the skin is lifted,
resulting in a smooth and flat contour
without visible bulging.

The overall body age
also appears noticeably younger.

The patient reported high satisfaction,
noting that the uneven texture
and tight pulling discomfort
caused by adhesions have resolved.
As the abdominal center naturally opened and relaxed,
movement also feels less restricted.

In addition, sagging that had appeared
to pull downward toward the lower abdomen,
along with a blunt waistline,
was fully corrected.
This led to a clear improvement
in overall body balance,
further increasing satisfaction with the surgery.

Even at 5 months post-op,
the scar has stabilized well.
With continued follow-up
and proper postoperative care as instructed,
even better results are expected moving forward.
