Abdominoplasty after pregnancy and childbirth, Lesarts Plastic Surgery

During pregnancy and childbirth, abdominal volume
increases and then rapidly decreases over time.
This process causes skin laxity and stretched
abdominal muscles, unlike simple fat accumulation.
As a result, overall body contour stability
may collapse, affecting daily comfort and confidence.

Sagging abdominal skin and separated rectus muscles
cause visible contour changes beyond exposed clothing.
Restrictions when wearing clothes often lead
to significant inconvenience in everyday life.

In C-section deliveries, scars may appear uneven,
and adhesions can create an irregular skin surface.
This often remains as ongoing physical
and emotional stress for many patients.

Unfortunately, stretched skin and muscles
rarely recover with exercise or skin care alone.
Scars and adhesions are also difficult
to improve through self-management.

For fundamental correction of these abdominal issues,
patients of various age groups visit Lesarts
seeking consultation for abdominoplasty.

Even with similar body specifications,
surgical results may vary by individual.

After childbirth, this patient experienced
repeated cycles of significant weight gain and loss.
Over time, this led to noticeable abdominal sagging
along with persistent C-section scar concerns.

Despite attempts at weight control and exercise,
the sagging abdomen showed little improvement.
She explained that ongoing discomfort
continued to affect her daily life.

Before abdominoplasty surgery, the abdominal condition
showed severe skin sagging toward the lower abdomen.
This was clearly visible from both
the front and side views.

Skin laxity that began in the upper abdomen
shifted downward and overlapped in the lower abdomen.
Above the navel, the surface appeared uneven
due to previous abdominal surgery scars
and associated adhesions.

When bending forward, rectus diastasis
was prominent, showing weakened abdominal wall support.
The entire abdomen drooped forward,
and inelastic skin was pushed further downward.

To correct these complex abdominal issues,
the following surgical plan was established.

[Surgical plan]

1. Abdominoplasty (M-type, umbilical revision)

– Lifted extensive skin laxity
from the upper to lower abdomen.

– Removed sagging skin and C-section scars,
and corrected the distorted navel.

– Repositioned the navel into a vertical shape,
restoring a natural abdominal center line.

2. Rectus muscle repair (Triple-lock technique)

– Firmly repaired separated rectus muscles
caused by pregnancy and childbirth.

– Aimed not only for a flatter appearance
but also for functional abdominal stability.

3. Adhesiolysis

– Released adhesions around the C-section scar
and navel area.

– Smoothed the previously uneven
abdominal surface.

4. Abdominal liposuction + Hip dip fat transfer

– Refined fat along the flanks and waist
to create a slimmer waistline.

– Performed hip dip fat transfer
to smoothly connect curves
from the waist to the pelvis.

Below are photos taken 8 months after abdominoplasty.
We will review the surgical results, including
C-section scar removal, improvement of uneven texture
from adhesions, lifting of severe sagging
from the upper abdomen, correction of lower abdominal overlap,
and rectus diastasis repair.

Hip dip fat transfer

In the pre-surgery photos, extensive sagging
that began in the upper abdomen caused
severe overlapping of the lower abdominal skin.
The skin surface appeared pulled and uneven
due to underlying adhesions.

In addition to sagging, excess fat obscured
the natural waistline, making the entire abdomen
look heavy and wide in proportion.

Through abdominoplasty, rectus muscle repair,
and abdominal liposuction, these concerns
were comprehensively improved.

The sagging and overlapping lower abdominal skin
was lifted, relieving the downward weight
and restoring overall balance.
Irregular skin texture caused by adhesions
also became noticeably smoother.

The waistline was refined through liposuction,
creating a slimmer silhouette.
With the addition of hip dip fat transfer,
the line from the waist to the pelvis
now flows in a softer, more feminine curve.

When comparing the bending posture,
the difference before and after surgery
becomes even more clearly visible.

Before abdominoplasty, the rectus muscles
were separated and abdominal elasticity was weak.
This caused the lower abdomen
to protrude and collapse forward severely.

By firmly repairing the rectus muscles,
the abdominal wall regained proper function.
The stretched skin was lifted,
correcting the unstable and sagging contour
into a firmer, more supported shape.

In addition, adhesions remaining
around the C-section scar were released.
Even in a bent position,
the abdominal surface now appears smooth
and naturally contoured.

In the pre-surgery side view, rectus diastasis
and significant skin sagging caused
the lower abdomen to protrude forward noticeably.
Along with the sagging, the navel position shifted downward,
visually lowering the waistline
and creating an unbalanced body proportion.

With simultaneous abdominal wall repair
and umbilical correction,
the protruding contour was smoothly refined.
The navel was repositioned upward
to align with the natural waistline,
making the legs appear longer and more balanced.

Currently, the patient experiences improvement
not only when standing but also when bending or sitting.
Previously overlapping lower abdominal skin
is now neatly corrected,
and uneven skin texture has visibly improved,
allowing for a more comfortable daily life.

Postoperative care includes continued laser treatment
to further soften the incision scars.
The importance of ongoing weight management
was also carefully explained.

Through this abdominoplasty,
both visible contour concerns
and functional discomfort were resolved.
With consistent care and healthy lifestyle habits,
an even more refined and stable body line
can be expected moving forward.
