Gynecomastia surgery is a procedure that corrects the physical discomfort caused by the abnormal enlargement of glandular tissue in men, resulting in an oversized chest.

Since the surgery directly removes the glandular tissue, the primary cause of the enlarged chest, the chest size will immediately decrease. However, the surgery often involves the excision of glandular tissue around the areola, and, if necessary, liposuction. This can result in internal scarring.

As a result, the recovery time for the damaged tissue will be required, and there can be some degree of variation depending on the individual. Typically, the most intense pain, bruising, and swelling are experienced in the first 3-7 days after the surgery.

These symptoms generally start to subside after 2 weeks when the stitches are removed.

However, even if there is no visible discomfort or restricted movement, the recovery period isn’t over, so high-intensity exercise or lifting heavy objects should be avoided for at least a month.

If exerted too early, it could slow down the healing process, and there could be persistent pain, such as a tingling sensation.

If you continue to experience discomfort, it’s important to visit the hospital and consult with your doctor.

If there are no unusual symptoms, follow the instructions given by the hospital, including proper care for the incision site with disinfectants and ointments, cold and warm compresses as directed, and wearing compression garments for 4-6 weeks.

Now, let’s take a look at the before and after photos of the gynecomastia surgery to discuss the treatment results in more detail.

The patient for this male gynecomastia surgery case is someone who recognized the symptoms of gynecomastia after their 30s.

Despite making efforts through diet and chest exercises to reduce the size of their chest, they mentioned not seeing significant changes.

As a result, they decided to visit Lesarts for surgery to correct the shape of their chest.

To assess the patient’s current condition for gynecomastia treatment, we performed a check, and it was clearly visible that the size of the chest had increased.

An ultrasound examination also confirmed that both sides of the chest showed hypertrophy and spread of glandular tissue.

Our medical team diagnosed the patient with true gynecomastia, corresponding to Simon Grade 2-A, and recommended correction through glandular tissue removal via gland excision surgery.

Additionally, there was a significant amount of fat on the side of the chest, and to correct the overall chest shape to a more masculine form, we explained that liposuction would also need to be performed as part of the surgical plan.

Furthermore, in order to prevent indentation and create a firm, masculine chest shape, we planned for a tissue repositioning procedure as well.

Since the patient had slightly reduced skin elasticity, we advised them to be particularly diligent about wearing compression garments after surgery and to ensure regular follow-up visits for optimal recovery.

The photos below compare the condition before and two months after the gynecomastia surgery.

In the photos taken two months after the male gynecomastia surgery, we can see the correction of the enlarged chest shape caused by glandular hypertrophy before the surgery.

The fat accumulated along the lower chest and side chest lines was also removed, resulting in a more masculine shape.

Especially when comparing the side profile before and after the gynecomastia surgery, the upper chest area now has a well-defined, muscular appearance, and the area where volume was previously prominent around the nipple has been flattened and corrected.

The before and after difference is clearly visible in the image where the patient is wearing a plain t-shirt.

Due to gynecomastia, the protruding chest line was noticeable, but after the removal of the glandular tissue that caused the condition, the chest shape has improved into a firm, masculine form.

As mentioned earlier, we informed the patient about the potential post-surgery symptoms, such as pain, bruising, and swelling, which can occur for a certain period. We also advised the patient to attend follow-up visits, wear the compression garment, and perform self-care, including proper cleaning.

Although the patient reported slight discomfort from pain and swelling after surgery, no unusual symptoms were found during the follow-up visits.

By following the advice on compression garment use and regular follow-ups, the patient experienced a smooth recovery, leading to a successful surgical outcome.
