Gynecomastia, a condition in which the breast tissue in men becomes enlarged and develops into a shape similar to that of a woman’s breast, causes not only physical discomfort but also significant psychological stress.

As a result, an increasing number of individuals are seeking gynecomastia surgery to address this issue.

However, for those considering surgery, it is essential to fully understand the potential symptoms that may occur after the procedure.

Since gynecomastia surgery involves working on the tissue around the chest area, symptoms such as bruising, swelling, a tingling sensation, or a somewhat dull feeling may arise. These are common signs of sensory changes that can occur after the surgery.

Generally, sensory changes after gynecomastia surgery tend to resolve within 3 to 6 months, though it may take a shorter or longer period, depending on the individual.

Therefore, it is crucial to consult with your healthcare provider about any symptoms that appear after the surgery and to follow appropriate treatment at the right time.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the pre- and post-operative photos of the patient to explain in detail.

This patient is in his early 40s and has been aware of his gynecomastia symptoms since his teenage years. Even as an adult,

he continued to experience ongoing discomfort in his daily life.

Before visiting our clinic, he noticed that his chest became more pronounced due to a rapid weight gain.

As a result, he sought gynecomastia surgery to correct the protruding chest and hoped to achieve a more masculine chest contour.

First, an ultrasound was performed to assess the patient’s gynecomastia symptoms, and it was found that both sides of the chest exhibited excessive glandular tissue growth.

The patient was diagnosed with true gynecomastia, classified as Simon Grade 2-A.

The patient required glandular tissue excision to remove the hypertrophied tissue and address the volume issue of the chest. Additionally, to prevent any sagging or indentations from the removed tissue, tissue repositioning surgery was necessary to create a more masculine chest contour.

Although the patient’s skin elasticity was moderate, it was important to monitor the skin’s sagging condition and any sensory changes during follow-up visits after surgery.

This was explained to the patient as part of the recovery process.

Next, here are the before and after photos taken 1 month after the gynecomastia surgery.

surgery.)]

In the pre-surgery photos, the symptoms of gynecomastia are clearly visible due to the hypertrophy of the glandular tissue.

After the removal of the glandular tissue, the volume of the chest, which was previously protruding, has been improved, and the chest now has a more masculine appearance.

The patient also had some sagging of the chest due to gynecomastia. After the surgery, the patient wore compression garments to help reshape the chest.

Additionally, I explained the taping method to achieve a lifting effect using medical tape.

This helped the chest shape to become more natural and stable, supporting its proper positioning.

In the before-and-after comparison while wearing a white t-shirt, the changes are clearly visible.

Now, the patient no longer has to wear two layers of t-shirts or slouch due to protruding breasts. Standing upright with a straight posture, it’s clear that their overall appearance has improved, and the fit of the clothes looks much better.

As mentioned earlier, during the initial recovery period after the gynecomastia surgery, the patient experienced the common symptom of reduced sensation in the surgical area. However, through careful monitoring and timely treatment, the patient is recovering steadily and well.

Gynecomastia surgery is an effective treatment that can alleviate physical discomfort and psychological stress. However, it’s crucial to not just rush into surgery, but to understand the potential symptoms that may arise post-surgery and the recovery period.

Above all, undergoing surgery in a safe surgical environment and at a reputable clinic where you can trust the progress of your recovery is essential, and this is precisely why it’s so important.
