One of the most common misconceptions about liposuction
is that it’s a form of weight loss.

Some patients say,
“I lost several inches in size after liposuction,
but my weight only dropped by 2kg, and I’m disappointed,”
or ask,
“Why didn’t the scale change much after liposuction?”

This is where a more accurate understanding
of how liposuction works is needed.
Liposuction removes fat by volume,
not by reducing body weight
the way diet or exercise would.

Because liposuction targets only the fat layer
in specific areas of concern,
it has nothing to do with muscle mass or body water,
and doesn’t affect the size of other areas.

That’s why liposuction is especially effective
for body types with stubborn fat deposits
or for those who struggle to lose size in specific areas.

In recent years, the focus has shifted
toward more natural, proportionate results,
increasing demand for precision contouring
that considers angles, silhouette, and fine-tuned balance.

Even with similar body specifications,
the results of liposuction surgery may vary.

The patient featured in today’s case
had experienced rapid weight gain
in the few months leading up to surgery.

In her preoperative photos,
you can clearly see that fat was concentrated
in the arms and thighs.

She visited Lesarts Plastic Surgery
with the goal of achieving slimmer, more contoured
arms and legs through
arm liposuction and thigh liposuction.

Before the arm liposuction procedure,
we assessed the patient’s body shape and found that
she had a noticeable amount of fat distributed throughout the upper arms,
especially when considering her height and weight proportions.

It was determined that in order to achieve a balanced result,
liposuction should not be limited to the arms alone—
accessory breast and armpit fat removal
would also be necessary to fully refine the contour
of the upper body area.

The thighs, too, had more fat than muscle,
and we determined that with thigh liposuction,
the patient would likely achieve the slim, straight leg line
she was hoping for.

As for the calves, rather than performing calf liposuction,
we recommended calf botox to reduce muscle volume,
which would help create a smooth transition
from the thighs to the calves and ankles,
resulting in a more ideal straight-leg silhouette.

However, in multi-area procedures,
the amount of fat removed and the patient’s overall condition
must be considered—
in some cases, same-day surgery may not be possible.

In this case, we estimated a fat removal volume of 3,900cc
from the arms and thighs,
so we conducted a preoperative health screening
to ensure the patient’s fitness and stability
before proceeding with surgery.

Now, let’s take a closer look
at the changes one month after
arm and thigh liposuction.

In the thigh area, fat had accumulated
on both the inner and outer thighs (saddlebags),
which made the patient’s lower body appear
shorter and bulkier.
Through thigh liposuction,
we were able to enhance overall proportions
and achieve a more balanced silhouette.

From the pelvic line down,
the legs now form a smoother, straighter angle,
and the creation of a visible thigh gap
emphasizes a much slimmer look.

When viewed from the side,
you can clearly see volume reduction
across the front and back of the thighs,
showing a full improvement in leg contour.

To match the newly slimmed thighs,
we also performed calf botox
to reduce muscle bulk in the calves.
This helped complete the ideal straight leg line,
making the legs look both longer and leaner.

Before surgery, the patient had experienced
rapid weight gain that changed her body shape.
She found it extremely difficult to reduce fat
in specific areas like the arms and thighs
through diet or exercise alone.

That’s why she chose liposuction
as a more effective solution
to reshape her figure according to her goals.

Fortunately, with a customized surgical plan
tailored to her body type and concerns,
she achieved well-balanced proportions
and a high level of satisfaction.

However, body imbalance is not only
a matter of body type—it can also be affected
by lifestyle habits.

So even after resolving her concerns
through liposuction,
it’s essential to maintain results long-term
through consistent care, diet, and exercise.
