Patients who visit the clinic for gynecomastia surgery are mostly in their 20s and 30s.

This is likely because they have experienced stress from group environments such as school or military service. In an effort to address their concerns, they actively seek information through online communities and platforms like YouTube, making them more proactive in considering gynecomastia surgery.

However, a surprising number of men in their 40s and 50s also visit the clinic. As they enter middle age, hormonal changes or weight fluctuations can lead to gynecomastia symptoms. Many of them become aware of these changes and experience discomfort in daily life, prompting them to seek surgical treatment.

Some patients may feel hesitant about seeking a consultation for gynecomastia surgery at a plastic surgery clinic.

To ensure a more comfortable experience, we have taken special care by providing consultations with male medical staff, private inpatient rooms, and separate ultrasound rooms with designated pathways for privacy.

The patient we are introducing today is a man in his 50s who has been aware of his chest protrusion since adolescence.

Due to this condition, he has experienced psychological stress for a long time. Before visiting for a consultation, he noticed that as his weight increased, his chest protrusion became even more prominent.

Many gynecomastia patients share similar concerns. The condition often leads to daily discomfort, such as restrictions in clothing choices and reluctance to use public facilities. As these difficulties increased, this patient decided to seek treatment to improve his quality of life.

To determine the cause of gynecomastia, an ultrasound examination was conducted.

The results confirmed excessive growth of glandular tissue in both breasts, and the patient was diagnosed with true gynecomastia at Simon Grade 2B.

Based on the patient’s condition, glandular excision and tissue repositioning surgery were recommended. This procedure would remove the overgrown glandular tissue while also correcting the chest to prevent any indentation in the empty space left behind.

Although the patient had moderate skin elasticity, we advised that post-surgical monitoring would be necessary to assess any potential skin sagging.

Below are the before and after photos taken two months after the gynecomastia surgery.

You can see that the protruding chest volume has become overall smoother after surgery.

The effect is especially noticeable when viewed from the side.

The upper chest naturally follows the pectoral muscle line, while the lower chest line has also been refined for a more natural appearance.

We had informed the patient that creating perfectly thin, straight lines would be difficult due to reduced skin elasticity.

However, because the patient diligently wore compression garments after surgery, the arm lines transformed into smooth and beautiful contours.

After surgery, maintaining a beautiful body shape is possible by moisturizing and maintaining regular eating habits with moderate exercise.

Even when wearing a T-shirt, you can see that the previously protruding chest has been corrected to a more natural fit.

Before surgery, the prominence of the chest was noticeable even under clothing, causing significant discomfort during activities like exercise or sauna visits.

After the procedure, the patient was able to stand more confidently with relaxed shoulders, leading to a high level of satisfaction.

The patient is satisfied with the improvement of the surgical site, but it will take some more time for the area to fully recover and stabilize. Therefore, I advised them that continuing with regular exercise and managing their diet to prevent weight gain would further enhance the results of the surgery.
